Spent the afternoon in the company of Mistress [livejournal.com profile] bacony and Master [livejournal.com profile] batelf, taking the former on a tour of Manchester's wholesale food purchase outlets, and later joining the latter in eating the meal prepared as a result of the former latter.  Much TV was watched (being the final three episodes of Firefly, closely followed by the first four or five episodes of Stargate) and many comics were read (mostly by me, as I had for some reason decided to bring only the last two weeks' worth of my comics for Katy and Chris to read).

I do not see them enough, and this should be rectified.  [livejournal.com profile] batelf has invited me to their Tuesday Adventure! game when it starts up again (in six weeks) - if the Bolton-based Tuesday night geek has not reawakened before them I may take him up on it.  It has been too long since I did any tabletop.

While driving around I missed a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] ajon who was apparently inviting me to an evening of board games and larks at their place, in lieu of Friday's aborted event (appropriated by [livejournal.com profile] gowhonker, if you recall, to show off his new lady love to everyone who mattered - not that I'm bitter).  I failed to get back to her; hopefully she took this to mean I was not coming, which I was not.

I wonder if she is busy tomorrow.

It's funny what you find when you're going through two years of archived mail.  I have about three promises of games from [livejournal.com profile] arwel - Silver Marches (proposed for the middle of May 2004), Feng Shui (which seems to have just sort of tailed off) and the "Mad" game (which we did actually get a session of).  It's sad how suddenly we've gone from "far too many games to rune them all" to "never geek".

(I'm still considering a game of Big Eyes Small Mouth but it's not really a viable replacement to the Tuesday Night game as it'll probably run at Chez Bennee, making a weeknight tricky for Sam and Nook, and probably Gem as well though I've not spoken to her.  I'd be willing to run something else on Tuesdays, if it means saving the regular thing before all memory of it vanishes.  Some other night would be okay too if people have already filled that time.  I am of the opinion that regular sessions are good things.)

I am also reminded that the Sunderland Massive promised us a visit, which has not yet happened (unless I am more out of the loop than I thought).

Finally I've been trying to get Thunderbird to read IMAP mail from the Bennee.com server, which involves setting up a tunnel between my PC and the one upstairs over the internet. I've got it to the point where it no longer says "cannot connect" but it's still not reading any folders or mail at all. The annoying thing is that the options on the account setup interface seem to imply that IMAP supports a secure logon naturally, without all this port forwarding nonsense. Oh well, I suppose I'll just have to talk to Alex or something.

Am trying to stat an Artificer character, and I find myself with 6 points left to spend (out of 24).  This seems unreasonable and I am trying to find ways to spend them without powergaming.  For example, I have lowered my Mind stat because I believe it suits the character, and while I could easily afford to put it back up - and the benefits are not inconsiderable - I am somewhat reluctant.  I could blow it all on starting cash but that seems like such a waste.  There must be a happy medium.  Maybe I'll buy all the various weapons uses, even though I can't afford to own any of them...

UPDATE: Seems [livejournal.com profile] nattydreadi doesn't have as much spare cash as previously thought, so I'm blowing all 6 skill points on starting cash (give me 12 silver = 1 gold = 1 sword). I'll put in a note saying any spare cash is to be changed back into weapon skills. Bah.
