I have managed to moderately annoy my beloved housemate.

On Friday Nook made me run Farscape for him, [livejournal.com profile] samharber and [livejournal.com profile] pkgem (as anyone who peruses my Friends page will note). It was not entirely willingly, since I much prefer to play, so I took the opportunity to be selfish and make everybody come to my house for the game. We usually run at Sam's place these days, since many people live near him and he has no cats, but that is about 30 miles away from my house. Since I was having to go home to get the books and dice anyway, I announced that I was going to stay there, and anyone who wanted to play could jolly well haul themselves over to join me. So they did, and were happy about it.

It wasn't until lunchtime, when I read [livejournal.com profile] bacony's journal and did some maths (she'd written about a dinner date "tomorrow" the day before), that I realised she was planning to entertain her current man that very evening. By this point, of course, it was too late to change anything. Well, it would have been possible but quite tricky, and it would have meant me driving from my house to Sam's, which I was still against. So there was nothing for it but to turn up all apologetic-like. In fairness she hadn't told me about her plans either, apart from an implicit reference in a livejournal entry, and she had been included on the emails about the game's location (she just hadn't checked her mails). And I have as much right to use the living room as her. Probably more, because I currently own her. But I still feel bad. Sorry!

While I'm on the subject, I remain unconvinced about her intentions towards the Chad. It's not like they were hanging around a lot and it developed into a relationship, or something. She just decided she wanted a man and grabbed the nearest available (passably good-looking) one. I'm a little concerned that she may be only interested in one thing. Oh well, I'm sure he won't mind, being a man and all. Maybe I'm just jealous.

On a related note, I begin to realise that not all of her so-called "Baconisms" may be entirely innocent and unintentional. When one uses the same one repeatedly (two of them actually - "He is larger than me in every dimension" and "How can he eat so little and retain his massive physique?") it becomes less possible to blame it on the dirty-mindedness of those around you, and more likely that your are trying to imply your boyfriend has a massive cock.

ps Farscape was good, they blew up a Leviathan and threw the plot out of the window. But this was one of the expected ways of dealing with it, and they did it in an inventive way, so I was happy.

Don't Shoot

Being in the States, and not having had the chance to make a lot of presidential election jokes the last time they came around over here, the phrase 'hanging chad' came to mind.

Yes, I have to confess that having once made a genuine Baconism I do re-use them with the intention of being dirty. Its easier than trying to think of new material, especially when my new material inevitably arrives inadvertantly..

To be fair, Chad and I started dating because of eyes meeting across a room leading to immediate physical attraction. We have since found out that we have a lot in common as well, but that wasn't our first priority.

Oh, and I'm not really cross with you. Like you said, I didn't tell you. I'm cross with Nook, because I did tell him, because he was the one organising the whole thing...

We threw the plot out the window!?

I didn't realise. It was fun regardless. I really should have payed more attention to rolling up my character but I was a drunken gunbunny at the time and just wanted a big gun - which you let me have - which is why I like you lots :-)
Besides blowing stuff up impressively and legging it is a standard Farscape plot-resolution device so I think it worked well.
I'm glad Nook and Sam were there to come up with the "remote control ship" idea because I was still tipsy at this point and my next "bright idea" was to create a big cannon and blow it into space - gotta love them big guns!!!

With regards to Katy. I knew she was having Chad over but when it was to be held at yours I thought you or Nook had convinced her and Chad to play. I was surprised when they actually turned out to be upstairs and it was just me, Sam, Nook and yourself as our distinguished GM. Still definitely fun though. And apologies to Katy for gate-crashing her "den of lurve".

btw - how do you imbed people's usernames instead of just referring to them by name?

Cheers... that saves me the trouble of asking :)

What do you mean RTFM?

I don't think it checks if the user exists

It does; goof it up and you'll get (Bad username in LJ tag) in the resulting text.
