To summarise:

Saw Harry Potter 5: V good. Have not read book so do not know of any glaring omissions, but the film itself functions perfectly internally and does not leave any obvious holes. Also the militant music had me tapping the sound of drums a lot.

Have also watched Pan's Labyrinth. It is fucked up. I like it. Remain confused as to why Pan is mentioned in the translated title (the literal translation being The Faun's Labyrinth which makes more sense since the faun is not named as Pan at any point).

Have decided to move in with bacony and the_prince. Commute will now involve no motorway. Would 14 miles be too far to bike?

Apparently there is only one Cordova Avenue in all of Britain, fancy.

stsquad has a PS3. It is awesome. Am tempted to buy one for new place (though XBox 360 is a close runner also). Am also tempted to buy flat HDTV for new room. Will have to do something with old TV. Wonder if it is bigger than K&V's.

Have become Bridget Jones apparently.

The main gripe I had was with the editing being wierd in places and certain things they do in the book which are repeated in the film having absolutely no relevance because they ommitted the bit which makes it relevant. For example, in book Harry uses the Thestrals to get to London because his broom has been confiscated as punishment for a fight during a Quidditch match. In the film, it has not been confiscated so why doesn't he use it?

Also Fred and Geaorge's 'lets get ourselves expelled' rampage is actually done in the book as a distraction to let Harry sneak into Umbridge's office.

I did enjoy the film but I think you saw it the right way round by reading the book second :)

Do you know, I didn't spot the broom thing. I was too busy laughing because half the people riding them couldn't see them. I think I assumed their brooms had all been confiscated as part of the whole 'secret society punishment' thing.
