Have just hit upon a way to perhaps improve the lettering process.  If I do all the image editing I want to do in Photoshop, then place the image in Illustrator and work on the speech, and then - instead of opening the image in PS and copying the speech bubbles over - open the Illustrator file in Photoshop, it'll rasterise it to a flat image of the right dimensions.  The text stays in an editable format, there doesn't seem to be a downside.  Theoretically, if I make changes to the PSD later it'll stay linked so I'll just have to open the AI again...

I'll let you know.  If, you know, anyone's interested at all.

I'm intrested. Eventually such tips may be distinctly handy.

It's just the learning to draw bit that keeps getting in my way :)
