You know that old saying about everybody being seperated from everybody else by at most six connections? It seems to be true, at least on Livejournal.

One of the more interesting red herrings in the LJ-Connect equation (prior to the addition of the "ignore" code, anyway) was the frequency of fake celebrity users (like [livejournal.com profile] heman as "friend hubs" with hundreds of people latched onto them.

This whole place is a really odd specimen no matter how you look at it. Everyone has different standards for listing other people, and it's not always consistent with someone else's definition of a friend.
