So, since slamming my shin into a solid metal tent-peg at Maelstrom (not a little camping thing, one of those big fuckers that keep the army tents from falling down) the area immediately south of the injury has become somewhat numb.

How worried should I be?

I would go consult your GP, if nothing else to put your mind at rest.

Go see a doctor asap rather than worry about it or ask our inexpert opinions.

Agreed.
I cracked my shin on a corner peg that was holding Tallard up when it was in shadow on Friday night, I now have a very large closed over cut and a wide area effect bruise.

you seem to have done worse.

Imagine how bad an injury I'd have got...

Oh it's definitely nothing serious. I'm 100% sure on that.

Wait a minute. I learnt all I know about Medicine from TV dramas! Maybe you should seek a specific general practitioner.

So the plan is to poke it until it gets worse so we can figure out what it was when we started? Interesting.

I'd recommend a GP visit. Wouldn't go myself but then again I use gaffa tape to stem bleeding so I'm not the best example.

If this were Casualty he'd maybe have enough time for a tearful farewell and then he'd die of Explody Pelvis Sickness.

I'll add my voice to the multitude saying see your GP, and please let us know what they say. We are curious.

Oh FFS. It's probably a bigass bruise. Bigass bruises often go numb, then feature entertaining swelling and interesting colours.

Put some witch hazel on the bugger and try not to hit it with anything else. The feeling will come back in a few days.

Even the staff nearly came a cropper on that one a few times, it was seamlessly invisible in the dark and somehow we had failed to bring any lanterns or glowsticks.

Katie Hill spent a large chunk of the evenings outside warning people.

Rich had a similar bang to his knee and what followed was severe swelling and bruising all down his lower leg and his ankle. It looked like the colours of the rainbow and was numb and somtimes painful.
He went to the GP who said that gravity sends the blood and bruising south and that it was partially his own fault for not appliying ice to the knee the moment it happended and instead carried on walking on it.
But theres is little to be done except wait for it to go down.
It may not be the same thing but sounds a similar reaction to a similar injury.
