Okay, so.

Say for example I was considering my cashflow priorities, and thinking about placing laser eye surgery above housebuying[1]. I know one or two people have looked into (and undergone) the surgery before me. What organisations come recommended, and how much could I expect to pay?

[1] Not that housebuying has been a particular priority of late - I'm thinking in terms of "large expense" priorities. Contact lenses are a low-level irritation, but they are nonetheless an annoyance.

The ones I've been looking at are www.ultralase.com, about £995 per eye with interest free credit for 1 or 3 years depending on special offers.

www.opticalexpress.com are £695 per eye with 10 months interest free credit but you have to pay £400 in advance (£200 per eye). I want to go with them, but need to save up the £400!

There's another clinic in Bolton www.visualase.com. They were about a grand an eye again but didn't offer interest free credit.

Let me know what you decide to do - I'm still v. keen to get mine done too.

I used ultralase. They were brilliant and really put me at ease. The process was explained well and the tests were thorough. There is some discomfort in the procedure, but I knew exactly what was going to happen. At £995 per eye it was about the norm at the time (3 years ago), and with interest free credit and deposit of £200, no-one else were offering this deal. I guess now, most are cheaper and giving the same deals.
