Watched the Doctor Who special.  Fun, sweet, harmless.  Rose makes rational (if entirely wrong) deductions.  Tennant has a hoot.  Largely what I had expected.

Except for an unreasoning glee when David Tennant's name flashed up instead of Mr Ecclestone's.  Wheee!

We do, as a species, fear change. I don't think you can really judge him solely on the basis of a (botched?) regeneration scene, he doesn't even have his accent yet ...
