I am writing this from my bed; stsquad has given me use of one of his old wireless iPaqs (price tbd if I find it useful).

Now, if I can just lay my hands on a docking cradle of some sort, I can get some sort of chat programme installed...

is it the 4150? you should be able to sync to it over wireless.

activesync which can be downloaded from microsoft, the instructions for setting it for wireless sync are on the web. Can also sync over bluetooth which is set up automatically. Did alex not give you the cradle to?

fairly easy, theres usually an option and wireless function somewhere on the ipaq,microsoft activesync isnt too bad, and i think it has a wizard for wireless sync

Hmm. According to ActiveSync Help, you first have to set up a "partnership" (using one of the other methods). It is all very confusing.

Oh, that's not the problem - you can't install programs on an iPaq directly, it has to be done via a PC.
