So today I are been mostly working, which means it is probably for the best that [livejournal.com profile] stsquad didn't turn up expecting to go to B&Q.

Unless I'm very much mistaken this means Alex gets to keep his 100% record in not-turning-up-to-decorate-the-big-spare-room.  I wouldn't mind so much (I am not one to whinge about the sudden lack of having to do physical labour, and anyway I had all this work to do), but he doesn't even tell me - not even when I've gone out of my way to be home, turning down social engagements[1] and travelling across the country etc.

Plus, of course, the weekend after next [livejournal.com profile] anne_l_davies will be turning up, expecting somewhere to hang her hat[2].  Between us, myself and Alex have about three spare evenings between now and then in which to decorate the room, move my stuff into there, and arrange some manner of bed for the newbie[3].  And we don't even have materials for decorating, hence the trip to B&Q.

It's looking very much as though one of us is going to be sleeping in a room with bare walls.

[1] In the pub, mostly.  But still.
[2] Metaphorical.
[3] Meant in the most immediate sense, if we include past tenure Anne probably has seniority over me.

[2] Actually in a very real and physical sense.

She has lots of hats.

Well yes.

And I'm turning up on Thursday the 22nd. Which gives you a whole extra three days to play with. Or something...

Sorry about that. The original plan was to get back Sunday evening and get the stuff from B&Q. However my Aunt (who I had not seen for nia on 6 years) did a good job of persuading me to stay the night. The failure to let you know was an oversight on my part caused by too much wine.

However its not as though you can't go go to B&Q yourself, being as you have a car and you are the one picking the wallpaper. The only actual activity that will require both of us is putting up the wall paper itself.

In the meantime I should get the plastering done tonight/tomorrow after I've cleared up all the old wallpaper.

anywhere!

Or it could be a five minute drive from Chez Bennee!

OK, if it's looking drastic then I have about a day and a half to help you when I move in. It would be best to have at least bought the paper by then.

I don't care who buys the paper.

And when I say 'help' I largely mean 'supervise'. Although I can possibly wield a paste brush.

It mainly an issue of free weekends with the next two being Maelstrom and Rich's Stag respectivly. Worst case scenario we shall have to overlap into the w/e of 23rd/24th.

I should get the prepping done in the next two days. However I've never papered before so there could be an issue of learning the trade.

There's a B&Q in Trafford Park now? They should really tell yell.com about that....

However the Trafford Park one is bigger, and we all know how important size is ;-)
