Sep. 4th, 2005 06:38 pmSo today I are been mostly working, which means it is probably for the best that
stsquad didn't turn up expecting to go to B&Q.
Unless I'm very much mistaken this means Alex gets to keep his 100% record in not-turning-up-to-decorate-the-big-spare-room. I wouldn't mind so much (I am not one to whinge about the sudden lack of having to do physical labour, and anyway I had all this work to do), but he doesn't even tell me - not even when I've gone out of my way to be home, turning down social engagements[1] and travelling across the country etc.
Plus, of course, the weekend after next
anne_l_davies will be turning up, expecting somewhere to hang her hat[2]. Between us, myself and Alex have about three spare evenings between now and then in which to decorate the room, move my stuff into there, and arrange some manner of bed for the newbie[3]. And we don't even have materials for decorating, hence the trip to B&Q.
It's looking very much as though one of us is going to be sleeping in a room with bare walls.
[1] In the pub, mostly. But still.
[2] Metaphorical.
[3] Meant in the most immediate sense, if we include past tenure Anne probably has seniority over me.

Date: 2005-09-05 04:34 pm (UTC)OK, if it's looking drastic then I have about a day and a half to help you when I move in. It would be best to have at least bought the paper by then.
I don't care who buys the paper.
And when I say 'help' I largely mean 'supervise'. Although I can possibly wield a paste brush.

Date: 2005-09-05 05:51 pm (UTC)I should get the prepping done in the next two days. However I've never papered before so there could be an issue of learning the trade.
