Today I decided to ask my mum to cut my hair, because it went quite well last time and, I don't know, it's insanity week or something.

I would be lying if I said I was ecstatic with the results. It's still drying, so it may improve, but I reckon it's far too short and the ends are too thinned-out. Apparently she was going for a "layering effect" but got a bit too enthused - she's basically managed to faithfully recreate that horrible awkward stage where it's still growing out and it's too long to wear down but too short to look like anything but a pathetic ponytail wannabe if you tie it back. (Come to think of it, I seem to recall that while I was initially growing it out I had to keep having trims specifically to avoid a layering effect.)

So, yeah, not best pleased. I think next time a professional touch may be in order.

I'll get some pictures at some point, because I crave ridicule.

I can cut long hair straight AND I've found my hair scissors in the move. But I'm in Kent now and too far away.

If you don't make it to a hair dressers I could have a neaten up at Maelstrom if yar want.

I'd try my best and be very careful. We could try cutting out some of the layering. Might only be a bit if there isn't a lot of room to work with, but still it's a start.

You cut your hair!

I'm mad about an unrelated issue, so I'll avoid calling you a prat, as I'm feeling particually misanthropic.

Because he wanted to, and didn't feel the need to be bound by other peoples expectations?

Hair based disaster?

Shave it all off.

Low maintenance, minimal hassle, dries in fifteen seconds, easy to maintain yourself, no need for conditioner, and you only look like a potato for a week or so.

If you shear it really short people will pet you.

I regard this as a good thing.
