The official verdict is in: My Mum thought this week's Doctor Who was "jolly good," though she "can't really imagine it with that new bloke".  She was surprisingly annoyed with Mr Ecclestone for dropping out after one series, I think because it shows a lack of respect for the good Doctor.

I am occasionally caught off-guard by how into SF my Mum is.  She once threw me slightly with a comment about how she never approved of covering the Doctor's clothing with question marks.  "I mean," she said, "He's supposed to be a Time Lord.  It's hardly dignified, is it?"

Random memory: This music once prompted a co-worked to phone his girlfriend. It is quite lovely.

*hasn't watched the finale yet, which means I can't read half the lj-cuts on my current friends page*

The Doctor is the least dignified Time Lord evar.

Those who know their trivia will recall that he initially left Gallifrey because the local dress code sucked.

The previous line may be a true fact.

Now that I've seen it, I'm torn. Not in terms of the new Doctor, though I do think Chris did a most excellent job. I sort of wish the Daleks were played differently, and I sort of wish the Bad Wolf "puzzle" was ... different. But the actual story, beyond that, was pretty well done.
