Lookie what I found, a Firefly Chinese-English phrasebook!

So ... Firefly LARP, anyone?

"If you run it, I will attend". Actually, doesn't have to be you - but someone who I thought could organise their way out of a paper-bag etc. etc.

That would be cool. We'd need more than just a phrasebook though. I always loved the way they got around the 'no swearing on TV' rule by being three times as rude in chinese.

It's called Frontier, and I've been writing it off and on for 3 years

To be honest, it's always been one of those 'tommorow' projects. however, after watching the DVD of Firefly, I'm probably going to set up a developers journal and just start porting stuff across until it's done.

It's also loosley based on 'Open Space', the core idea being that space travel is very cheap to implement.

To me part of the charm of FF was that it wasn't Star Wars or Star Trek - it was about the characters, not the setting (ok - that's probably actually closer to the Star Wars). I agree with Andy, get on with it, and seriously consider setting planetside - easier to phys-rep convincingly too.

Ah but Firefly-the LRP isn't quite the aim, but it's near as damn it. The cheap space travel is more a usable plot device for gaming.

In my experience, drawing directly from a TV show source never works, as LRP tends to be better bespoke. I still have nightmares about the DS9 LRP...

Why use sets when you have a large university hall, some not-so-cheap phasers and a uniform fetish. *shudder*

Also, they wouldn't let me play a Gorn.

Stargate seems to be taking off (though in fairness this seems to be limited to the gunbunny wank fetishist larpers)

I adore FF...
