Homework

For the C2P job, the agent has asked me to go through the job spec and answer each of the "Skills, Knowledge and Experience" bullet points with an example of when I have used that skill.  Some of them are fine ("Knowledge and previous use of FTP/SSH clients") but I'm having difficulty with the one that says:

• Track record of being results focused, committed to success and making it happen at all times

I have no idea how to respond to that.  The only thing I can think of is:

• Making It Happen is one of my favourite things.

Which, I suspect, would not win me points.  The job application, like the brisk questioning of the stalwart customs official, is neither the time nor the place for levity.

Quite aside from it being a complete and total falsehood.

Job update again

Hmm.  No feedback from Umbro yet (which is worrying the agency man, he seems suspicious that maybe they've gone with somebody else and not told him), but we have heard something from JoJaffa.

It is mixed news - apparently they can't employ me for the role as is, as they're looking for somebody who is not only technical but also commercial (ie, can take a hand in the direction of the business).  I think maybe they're looking for a Technical Director or something.  However, they're starting to think they may need somebody who's purely responsible for development - separate out the Technical from the Director.  They are meeting with business advisors or something this afternoon.  They have also said that even if they don't find permanent employment for me they'd be interested in hiring me on a contract or ad-hoc basis, since Jez was impressed with my technical skills and liked me as a person.

So, you know, it's not something for which breath should be held, but there may be life in the old dog yet.  If it's ... breathing.  Or something.
