It is a good movie.  Better, as is by now fashionable to say, than one would expect.

Reeves himself remains unimpressive, but there were certain shots in certain scenes where he actually managed to look scruffy and even - shock - harangued.  He sort of works here because (from my own limited experience with the character) Constantine is supposed to be stolid, implacable and somewhat stone-faced, which is a part that Mr Keanu can certainly play.

What really sold the movie to me is use of the Spear of Destiny, which as well as being a genuine legendary artefact is also an item of cosmic power in the DC Universe of which Constantine, being a Vertigo character, is nominally a part.  Like seeing Curt Connors in the Spiderman movie, this gave me one of those big, stupid grins.  Oh, and there was a smashing sequence in the middle which looked very much like a Dave McKean cover.  Smashing.

new webcomic that I have just read through.  It's an interesting beast; it starts out as the tale of a spousal unit and their live-in satanist, but seems to feature frequent jumps forward in time.  Currently the strip focusses on their son, who is now in college (his elder sister is a toddler in the first comic), his long-time best-friend-come-partner and their slave (Collin won her in a poker game and she works as their cleaner and general assistant, it's all perfectly family-friendly).

It's not great (particularly the anatomy is, when it appears, quite poor), but it has a certain sense of humour about it. I draw to your attention this, which should strike a chord for [livejournal.com profile] bacony and [livejournal.com profile] stsquad, and hyar, for fans of Lost.

(Oh, the controversy?  Something involving the Keenspot newsbox, I don't know.  Somebody removed the newsbox from their page because it had boys kissing, somebody else thought they'd had the whole thing pulled right across Keenspot, and the whole thing got blown out of all proportion.  And knowing is half the battle!)

Weren't these guys in some other comic about superheroes or something?  The one with blue in his hair really looks familiar. EDIT: Oh, right, yeah.
