I have read the "Character of Cats" and I'm under no delusions that cats are any more intelligent than any other animal. They are not (necessarily) stupid though; some are - my Mum's Bandit being a prime example of a cat with many screws loose. Many of the things cats do are tied into instinct and culture (passed down from mother to kittens) but then this applies to all animals, including humans.
I just believe that cats are cuter, cooler and more individual than other animals. I've had fish, mice, birds and a dog as pets in my lifetime but I've never got obsessed about any other animal. Either cats simply are cooler or I've been infected by that cat-virus Nook was telling me about...
