Is it wrong to have an in-depth discussion about what underwear the Street Fighter 2 characters wore?  If so, ed_fortune is a bad man.

Ryu - goes commando
Ken - tighty-whities (Y-fronts)
Guile - regulation army boxers (see Levis Jeans launderette commercial)
Vega - thong, possibly posing pouch (gold)
Zangiev - Jock strap (shudder)
M Bison - cricket box / athletic cup
Dahlsim - loin cloth
E Honda - whatever Sumo usually wear under there
Chun Li - slinky little silk two-piece, no frills, pure class
Cammie - Union Jack knicks

I know Cammie did not appear till later in the series, but Ed insisted.  And underwear discussions are probably not the place to worry overmuch about continuity.

i strop at street fighter because Vega should be the ponytail Wolverine claw dude and M Bison the big shouldered psycho crushing dude. but really M Bison is the boxer (Balrog) and Vega is the shouldered dude and Balrog is the flouncy mask one. but that is SO WRONG! (even with the M Bison=M Tyson thing.)

also Ryu and Ken should have matching pants but in different colours!

The original Japanese version of Street Fighter 2(and I assume every Japanese version from there on in) did indeed sport mixed up names for three of the 4 bosses. Balrog was also misspelt as Barlog.

I think the US release switched the names around on purpose, since they didn't want Mr M Tyson to think boxer M Bison was anything to do with him (it was).

I think the US versions make more sense too, hence Vega (spanish prettyboy) in thong.

there was someone in Operacion Triunfo (Spanish Fame Academy) called Vega, and she is a girl...

i still say Ken & Ryu should have matching pants though.

ps I did think about co-ordinating Ken and Ryu, but they do have basically different backgrounds. Ken is so all-american he has to go pants, but Ryu has always struck me as the commando type. I do not know why.

Nah, Akuma probably opts for the firm control of a pair of Marks and Sparks A line shorts. I doubt he'd take the risk of unecessary flapage. Blanka is the most likley not to wear pants, they probably got torn to shreds or disintegrated through overuse.

Akuma's a better demonic version of Ken and Ryu and was the final boss in one of the endless itterations of SF 2. I can't believe that level of uberness was achieved through having his tackle flapping in the breeze.
