Got drunk. Came home. Stayed. Hooray!

Allow me to elaborate.

Friday was [livejournal.com profile] pkgem's birthday party. It was fun, we went out to pub and club and I even danced. The Darkness rock out so much, I am thinking about buying their album. Of course, I will have to balance out such good musical taste by simultaneously purchasing the Busted album. Ha ha ha! Anyway, I got myself gently inebriated (6 units of alcohol over 4 hours) and gave Gemma a He-Man action figure.

I am in two minds about the new He-Man figure. He is all tensed and stooped, like he is trying to poop a brick. Or growling or something. He looks like an angry ape. The new He-Man series, however, kicks so much ass. There is plot, and characterisation, and backstory, Skeletor has an origin, and most importantly He-Man and Prince Adam do not look the same. Talk about Superman and spectacles all you like, but at least he did more than take off his shirt. Teela was always all "Oh no! A man I know very well has removed his shirt and I can no longer recognise him!" That's fixed for the new series, he's like two feet shorter in his secret identity.

Following the pub I spent the night in [livejournal.com profile] ajon's inflatable bed, for which I am grateful. It was preferable to Gem's floor. I am still slightly stiff, since double airbeds are not designed for a single occupant, but it was nice all the same.

Upon awakening on the Saturday morn, I proceeded to Manchester and my own abode. I was in time to chat briefly with my housemate ([livejournal.com profile] bacony) and her meat[1], before they rocketed off to scout out the site for next weekend's SoS LRP event. I was not alone long[2] before Chris Perry arrived. We watched some TV and read some comics before going to see Finding Nemo.

Finding Nemo is a good movie. Apart from being very visually pleasing (from a computer science point of view, I would have to say FUCK ME that's good), it is funny and cool and clever and touching without being cloying. The dialogue is (IMO) both well-written and well-executed.

Anyway. Then we came back to my place and watched DVDs for about 24 hours, until late tonight. We watched about six hours of Futurama, all told, with breaks for sleeping and watching Justice League. Then this evening we watched Flight of the Navigator (easily as good as I remember; while the CGI is primitive, they worked within their limits and it's fairly seamless) and One-Armed Boxer II (bad martial arts flick). Now it is bed time and I have successfully avoided driving all weekend. Hooray!

The weekend's down points: I have a vague notion that people may have done lots of cool things without me. While some of this is perfectly normal paranoia, I know at least some of it is based in fact (see [livejournal.com profile] pkgem and [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain's repeated movie trips, failure though one of them was). I am possessive of my friends, and get distressed when they exclude me. I realise that this is unrealistic, and that people can't spend all their time together, especially when they live 30 miles apart, so I don't really mind too much when I think about it. There's just an instant and immediate jealousy there.

In related news, [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain tells me [livejournal.com profile] bacony is worried I may be acting like an asshole. I'm not entirely sure why. But then, I've never been entirely sure why people always tell me I'm nice, so it stands to reason that I wouldn't notice if I suddenly started being a twat. If I have, rest assured that I don't mean any offence, and am just trying to be funny. Comedy makes people love me. Hooray!

[1] Typo for "Mate". Intentional.
[2] Not even long enough to crack off a quick one.
