Wedding was fun, saw my lovely family.  Though the disco did make every bad wedding disco tale come true all at once, with "I am the music man" followed by Black Sodding Lace.  And the organist at the church seemed to be on some sort of sedative.  Oh, must pay Ian for sharing car rental.  And suggest that next time we take my car, which does not need renting.  But the rental car did have air conditioning mmmm. Other than that, lovely.

Sunday evening we got back and the garages were all closed, so I had to take the morning off work.  I now have four new tyres and fixed tracking.  VROOM VROOM[1] says Raj, and no longer shudders interminably when I drive above 60.  It did cost slightly more than the deposit from the previous house that the landlady so generously returned to us at the tail end of last week.  I think I am more or less committed to the idea of throwing money at mechanics to get him through his MOT, rather than just junking him and getting a new one.  Unless it's thousands of pounds.

One thing I will not miss about living with [livejournal.com profile] bacony is the magical way in which conditioner mysteriously disappears.  When I moved into [livejournal.com profile] stsquad's I bought equal-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner; I use about twice as much shampoo as conditioner.  The shampoo is still half-full, but the conditioner ran dry after about a fortnight.

I will, however, miss the inexpressible joy of discovering important mail, days or even weeks after it arrives, in interesting hiding places such as on top of the computer monitor (fair enough), or down between the bed and the wall (um?).

My room is inordinately hot.  The rest of the house is quite toasty, but my room in particular is sweltering, even with the window open.  This will be lovely in the wintertime.  I may buy a fan.  To continue the String Of Woes, at about 8 o'clock last night there seemed to develop a problem with internet connectivity.  Though the website is serving fine to the outside world.  Maybe it's something to do with the DNS or router or hopscotch or flipflop.  Or something.

To end on a positive note: I still love you all.

EDITED TO ADD: So with the internet down, last night I played non-web games (yes they do exist).

First I tried to continue with The Temple Of Elemental Evil A Classic Greyhawk Adventure, but every bad thing people said came true. "Wandering Monster" encounters appeard on the far side of walls, in the null void. Town quests proved to be irritating and stupid. And the 4th-level rogue I picked up is taking a fair proportion of loot and refusing to give it up. May have to murder him and take it. Unfortunately since the rest of us are level 2, he's not dying in combat before us...

So then I installed Thief 2, looking forward to some classic sneak-em-up action. Only it fell over, insisting that my graphics card was not reporting its texture depth properly, or something, and it damn well wasn't going to play with a dirty filthy liar. I would have looked for driver updates, patches and known issues, but as I say the interweb was down.

Last try was Enclave, which I found to be most agreeable. It's sort of an arcade style RPG, you run around hitting things and occasionally get told to go somewhere else and hit something specific. The game is organised into missions - complete this task on this map - and at the end of the mission you are rewarded with cash and possibly an extra character to play on the next level. You can go back and play earlier levels at any time. Equipment's kind of wierd - you equip yourself at the start of each level, and can have anything that exists up to a total value equalling the money you've collected, so the better you do at the earlier levels the better you'll be equipped later on. Wierdly, though, if you pick up a snacky weapon - for example, the Ice Sword worth 1200 gold that I found in a lava-based goblin outpost - the value of that weapon is not added to your cash, it's just added to the selection options. So despite playing half a level fully equipped with bonus extra sword, you then have to choose between armour, shield, sword etc OR uber snacky ice sword. Still, it's a great fun game, harmless and really quite pretty.

Sorry dude. I do in fact replace your conditioner when I use it, by buying a new bottle. I stored this bottle lower down.
As to the mail, I have no idea what it is doing there. I left it on the computer. Magical pixies have obviously hidden it since then.

I have fixed the internet though, by the hilariously dangerous yet effective means of turning it off, and then turning it back on again. Shhh, don't tell Alex I have been playing with his router...

Well that too... I mean, when you are not here I steal your conditioner, so I may as well get a brand that I like? ;)
