Update on a few things:

1. Yesterday I did no work on the picture.  Instead I installed Planescape: Torment again.  This time am going for Chaotic Evil.  It is tough going, because having played through as good I know where all the snackies are - they are rewards for volunteering to do things for free.  I am trying very hard to murder everybody I meet but it is so hard.
2. Mum's wireless box is apparently not a router at all, but a Wireless Access Point.  http://192.168.0.1 works not at all.  Riddle me that.

4. My neck is becoming sore from all this staring at monitors. Owie.

That is all.  Tonight is D&D yay!  Have not seen anybody for the last week.  Miss them so much.

Ahh, it will be behaving as a bridge then I guess. In which case the MAC address that the ISP has will be your Mum's PC and you can't clone it on your PC.

Buy a router, alternativly I may do you a swap, my old router for the access point (assuming the AP will link to my router - we'd have to do a test).

I would have to check into Mum's contract, I suspect the WAP is only on loan. (See how I reuse TLAs to cause confusion!) She has actually been pondering the idea of buying a router...

Um, this is purely for me - Mum's using the intarwebs just fine. Though she was considering purchase of a laptop, and needed to know whether a router would be required before then or not, my PC was a sort of experiment before then.

Planescape : Torment: Brilliant. Brimming with atmosphere. A reasonable amount of replayability, as well, although i always seem to get to the same point before something either goes wrong with the computer or the game. Strange.
Mums Wireless Box: Could it be something sinister? A spy device, or soemthing for hypnotising her into buying certain products?
Hot or not: The fella who won looks extremely whiny, but his shoulders are hidden. Perhaps that's the clincher.
