No geek for Andy this week.

Fie upon NTL! Fie upon them for sheduling their box collection on a day when (a) Andy was supposed to be in Bolton and (b) Alex has taken ill with plague. Were Alex not ill I would be D&Ding it up with the best of them, but sadly plague takes precedence over recreation so I an stuck at home waiting for a man.

Ahem.

My main worry is how, last time I missed a session, I returned to find the entire party (save ajon, who had also been absent that week) deaded. OH NOES. Also this will likely be arwel's last session, what with the move to Stretford which means I'll be unable to give him a ride home.

On the plus side, once the box has been grabbed I can do some packing/moving. Also was able to contact the landlady who confirmed that, yes, we have until this weekend to move out. She was quite nice about the whole thing (and had actually been trying to contact us, only the house has been all empty and stuff). She tried to arrange a time to pick the keys up and swap forwarding addresses for deposit cheques, and suggested Sunday at 4; since I had no preference I agreed, though she impressed upon me that whenever was good for us was fine. We can ring her on Saturday if this becomes unsuitable for whatever reason.

Will post this now in case ntl men arrive. I'm sure they wont but I am paranoid like that. Bye bye.

No, really, when a few of us were considering going over a pint in The Exchange pub in '95 or '96, a couple of crusties had a go at us, shouting how it was their festival, and that people like us should fuck off and leave them alone.

I discovered while poking the hotornot site that they moderate scores as some people give ratings out of 5 - never going above it while others give everyone the same score. All those 4/5 scores are transmuted up to 8s, 9s and 10s while your 1s and 2s are copied up to 2s and 4s so feel good that you are actually a big stud :)

After 100 votes I was an 8 so I am happy :D

I noticed that, and I was wondering if they keep track of what individual people vote, or just bump all 5s up and count high scores more with some kind of weighting algorithm ... I always assumed people would vote more towards the high end of the scale anyway.

After some consideration, I came to the conclusion that considering such things is immensely sad, and started thinking about more interesting things instead.
