Weekend in review - full disclosure omg
Jun. 20th, 2004 11:37 pmFriday night was spent mostly eating pizza and watching TV. New, better pizza, from the pizza place we only tried because we lost the menu we always used and found to be far superior, one month before we move out. Curses!
Saturday we woke up remarkably early. Work-normal, really. We packed the car with a cursory load, as per plan, and headed over to Alex's. A day of tedious removal businesses proceeded. Mention must be made once again of the delightful
spodula, who volunteered his time and the use of trailer for no apparent recompense. I promise to do something good for him at some unspecified point in the future.
Possibly without warning.
(One matter that is still unresolved is the matter of who will have which room.
stsquad has two spare rooms, one of which I will sleep in on 2-4 nights of the week, and one of which will be
bacony's domain wherein she will put all her many things, and also serve as a refuge and notional territory because, while the two will likely be sharing a bed most nights, they have not actually moved in together, we're just using Alex's spare rooms while we find a house.
Of the two rooms, one is spacious and pleasant, while the other is teeny-tiny and is partially composed of the house's hot water tank. While it's true I'll only be there a few nights of the week, this is likely more nights than Katy will spend in her room, so it would be nice to spend them in a room in which it is possible to swing a cat without it igniting from the heat. Though she does require more storage space than I...
Perhaps the solution is for the larger room to "belong" to Katy, but for me to sleep in it anyway. I don't know, we obviously need to talk more about it. Probably before they leave for Glastonbury, since I'll be moving an amount of our stuff across this weekend...)
Then, at around about 3pm, myself an Alex proceeded, with Alex's brother and his woman, to
zheers' birthday extravaganza. O what a grand affair it was! There was a coach, and a voyage across the Pennines to the "Wendy House" - sort of Leeds student union's equivalent of Rock Kitchen, I suppose - wherein much alcohol was consumed. So many people were there who I don't see nearly enough, including
r_dragonsbain,
morningstar_lj and
markthebrewer, who turned out to be much more physically affectionate than I remember. Hopefully Alex will make the photgraphs publically available at some point, no doubt to the delight of that certain demographic that gets all excited by the idea of two grown men swapping spit. (I will not tell his fiancee, dear reader, if you don't.)
bacony and
pkgem, I'm looking at you. Also present was Jen (or possibly Gem, I was reasonably sure at the time but I get very paranoid about these things in retrospect) who I saw about twice, six years ago, and has apparently missed me ever since. I made such an impression upon her with my highbrow dairy-related conversation that she's never forgotten. Bless. There was a certain period during which I'm quite sure she was trying to get into my pants, but I ignored it until it went away.
We returned to
zheers' house at about 4AM, at which point Lee was determined we should stay awake as long as possible. This meant I spent approx 1 hour lying on a sofabed next to Big Gay Phill, who was trying earnestly to explain why "Bum Love" is a good thing (yes, I'm sure it feels great, and yes I'm sure it's not dirty nor is it inherently evil, I just dislike putting things to uses for which they were not designed. Everything about that hole is arranged for things to come out, and I will have no truck with anything that goes against this design). For some part of this discussion Lee was straddling me, which was actually quite nice when he wasn't trying to bite my neck or twist my nipples. Then I spent about a further hour trying to get to sleep on the sofabed next to Phill, while Strange Days sang to itself on the television and people argued the ins-and-outs of what should and shouldn't be done to improve SoS. Alright - long story short - when
morningstar_lj left for work at 8:00 AM I was still awake (possibly having dozed a little at points), and I crept into his bed for two hours' sleep before
stsquad dragged me back to his place again.
Props to
dracven who apparently recognised me from my LJ icons.
Today was far less remarkable (defining "today" as the period since I woke up). Pub lunch (very nice), then home to play City of Heroes and KotOR a bit. Then to bed. Though I seem to have been distracted by LiveJournal until the wee hours again. Damn. Oh well, I can go to work on 6 1/2 hours sleep, not a problem.
And then I wrote my livejournal post
