Now I don't have to see Troy!

ACHILLES: LAY OFF MY MOM OR I CUT YOU.

So, the weekend then.

Friday was fun. I ran a half-assed game of Mutants and Masterminds for [livejournal.com profile] samharber and [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain. [livejournal.com profile] arwel pulled out so it turned out to be the best game evar, even if Nook did keep falling asleep at one point (late). We didn't start until about 10pm because of the last episode of Friends being on (REVIEW: I agree with him), so by the time we started we were already quite drunkenly. Nook slept on the sofa and Sam took to [livejournal.com profile] bacony's empty bed, where we like to think he did manly things.

Saturday began with a trip over to Bolton to pick up Nook's luggage (and also [livejournal.com profile] foul_temptress ha ha). Then we proceeded to Sunderland for the [livejournal.com profile] squidboy barbecueueue, which was fun. Except the part where [livejournal.com profile] wulfboy got his cream[1] on me, and then stood there like a petulant child and told me that he was acting on Nook's instructions. Considering he'd allegedly only had one can of beer by that point, he's either a liar or an exceptional lightweight. Or a twat. One of the three.

Slept in Ben's front room on [livejournal.com profile] richc and [livejournal.com profile] ajon's air bed, which was nice until the morning when the flimsy blinds did not block much of the sunlight. Still, we had to get up early for Midgard anyway.

Midgard was smashing fun; definitely a return to "More Fun LRP". Rules were so light as to be invisible; battleboarding seems to be done more or less on the honour system, despite the number of "per-day" skills. It would be quite easy to cheat horrendously if one had a mind to. It was like SoS but with all the bad bits - bits which I had previously assumed to be inherent in the club style of linear LRP like time freezes for battleboards and monster moving - taken out. I think this was mostly achieved by having monsters that are dangerous but (reasonably) easy to kill, so you don't need as many per encounter and can set up in advance. Oh, and the other thing that helped with monster setting was the set route around the site ... which also helped with scouting because, while it does breed familiarity, it's easier for roleplayers to pretend they don't know where they're going than it is for scouts to pretend they do. All in all a most enjoyable outing. Except the part where, while monstering after lunch, I had to run full-pelt up a hill and then lie by the side of the road. Lack of oxygen and blood to head, combined with chicken tikka sandwich, led to roadside vomit. Naturally, just as the first player ([livejournal.com profile] rich_bull) was coming up the path.

After Midgard we proceeded directly to Nook's house, where I showered and stayed the night in the spare bed.

In the morning Nook and Sam were talking about going to see The Day After Tomorrow, which does not particularly interest me (I may have to cancel my cinema card soon, I've not used it in months), when they both got text messages from Mr Marcus Hill regarding a barbecueue that afternoon. Since I was clearly not wanted I went home and cried (by which I mean, played City of Heroes - Therm is now lvl10, I must post screenshots at some point). I later got a message from [livejournal.com profile] ajon saying that I was in fact invited, but I was firmly entrenched by then. And anyway, in the past I've heard Marcus and Sue moaning about people turning up to their soirees after being invited by other people, and I wouldn't want to be that guy. Also I hate you all. Hugs!
