Seeing as a few years ago, M People won instead of Primal Scream, and since then has stopped being an independant celebration of actual good music, and is now a corporate backslapping event for record execs to congratulate each other for raping whatever mediocre modicum of talent the latest pop idol wannabe possesses out of them and turning it into a top 5 one hit wonder.
As far as i can tell, Busted are simply a reprsentative of 'safe' 'cross-genre' 'music'.
They're not actually subversive, despite their lyrics about 3 breasted women or shagging their teacher, they're just cleverly appealing to pre-pubescent boys as well as girls.
And you.

I have no respect for your musical taste now, after this and attempting to 'speed up' the White Stripes with powerpuff girls esque drum & bass human beatbox noises.

I respect Jack White as a musician (Tangent: my Mum recently saw a photo of Jack Black on the TV and said "Ooh, it's that White man! From the White Stripes!"). I simply feel that he could easily replace Meg with a drum machine, and discover that not only is the drum machine an adequate replacement for her steady rhythmic bass drum pulse, but it is actually capable of more interest and variation. This may be because I have heard little of their material beyond the commercial releases, but it remains my feeling on the matter.

Furthermore, I am more amused than anything by the Busted Brit award. I do not claim that they are gifted musical prodigies, only that their music is the derivative upbeat pop pap that I can enjoy without engaging my brain too strongly. Also, I really don't care what you think of my musical tastes, as I freely admit that my CD collection contains such lyrical gems as Cleopatra's "Life Ain't Easy" and Daniel beDingfield's "Gotta Get Thru This". However, following on from my football hooligan stance on the matter, if you call my team a pouf I will have no recourse but to fight you.

Still, at least we can agree that Joss Stone's cover of "Fell In Love With A GirlBoy" is a travesty of all that is good and pure.
