maddam started his Everway game last night! All we did was character gen (q.v.) but it looks like it will be a hoot. I went in with a distinct character concept - an embittered ex-military farmer - but when we got down to it we all decided to do the random generation because it was so much faster. Then when Adam outlined what powers were available^[1], certain ones leapt out at me and meshed neatly with the cards I'd drawn.

So it turns out I'm a selfish pyromaniac human torch^[2] who likes to party.

Whee!

[1] Technically anything you can think of, but we all picked from the book.
[2] Ooh, I may steal that picture.

Everway is my favourite RPG. You're all so dull for just picking powers from the book!

By "random generation" do you mean you picked five random vision cards to generate the characters? That's proper hardcore! I usually flick through the deck and whittle it down to ones that inspire me somehow.

It's (mostly) our first time playing! We didn't know what was possible within the bounds of the game. Also, I figured by picking a pre-defined power there was less chance of accidental powergaming.

And no, by "random generation" I mean we drew three fortune cards to go into Virtue, Vice and Fate. Come to think of it, I didn't get around to the vision cards.

(I may not be using the right terminology. I'm using "fortune" to refer to the deck of 36-1 tarot-style cards, and "vision" for the larger deck of cards with meanings written on the back.)

Hmmm... we have a copy of Everway taking up space in the spare room. As I never tabletop any more and you seem to be playing it, do you want it as a spare set of books for reference purposes?
