I think they do. Ignoring the message he's trying to get across it's very base physical comedy. People laugh because they are embarrased to be watching.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't laugh if it was on a sketch show or in an explicit "comedy" setting. To me, it's funny because it's unattributed - is it a gag, or is it genuinely from some sort of public access cable show or evangelical network? It ultimately doesn't matter whether it is or not, the point is that it could be. There's no reason in the world why it couldn't be some understaffed live broadcast where the host/guest went off on one and everybody just had to sit there awkwardly. And, on the other hand, it's not funny enough to be a gag. So ... maybe it ... is...? Naaaah. But ... it could be...?

Hmmm..You've got a point. I assumed it was a comic trying desperately to get a laugh by suggesting that he'd been hit when he was a child.

Suddenly I'm kind of hoping you're right as if he's just crazy... he's not trying at all - which makes him funny.

To me, it goes on too long to be a sketch. A sketch of that length would at least have a longer pause. Where did you get the link from?
