Although people with piercings should have no problem sleeping on the bed, Ruijssenaars advises them against entering the magnetic field between the bed and the floor.

They could find their piercing suddenly tugged toward one of the magnets.

Why am I suddenly struck with a whole new concept in bondage... Hmmm, piercings, magnetic bed, sorry you ain't going anywhere at the moment :)

Saw this when it was in an actual newspaper months ago. Struck me as a singularly pointless piece of design at the time. One question which occured to me was: Er, what about these great big cables that stretch all over your bedroom. Won't they sort of put a bit of an obstacle in your way? Some people are bad enough tripping over shoes and discarded underpants left on the floor never mind cable :)

Wasn't there research done with strong magnetic fields in the second world war. I believe everyone who worked on it died. I think there might be a fertility problem with magnetic fields as well. Cool bed though.
