Leaving on a jet plane

So, off to New Orleans from Gatwick tomorrow at 10:30 AM.

[livejournal.com profile] stsquad pointed out last night that, were I a clever bunny, I would perhaps have arranged with a friend to travel down tonight and get some kip (and polite conversation) with a friend or friends in the area. Oh well.

Let's see ... according to The Train Line my best bet is to catch the 5:20 from Manchester Piccadilly.

This does not mesh well with getting to Manchester Piccadilly, which according to GMPTE at that time of day involves getting the bus to Manchester Airport and catching the train back into Manchester. There's got to be a better way...

How about a taxi from your house to Manc Picc??

will be about a tenner & a lot more reliable than a bus & train combination plus takes 20 min not 90.

Find somewhere in town that's going to be open until 5. Stay there getting riotously drunk. Sleep on the train.

hmm good idea, although would he be sober enough to be allowed on the aircraft at 10.30am??

Why New Orleans? who are you going with?

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Also, if GMPTE say you can get to the airport, there are flights leaving at 6.25 and 6.55 both of which will get you to Gatwick in time. The 6.55 one is jet2.com, they've still got tickets at a bargain £89 one way.

I say Taxi is the best bet. It is the only reliable way barring kindly friends who are willing to get up at that godawful time in the morning and drive you there in thier car.

Generally need to be bloody good friends, though, which are often more expensive in the long run and complain more than the average Taxi driver (though if it is a Manchester taxi driver that last comparison is a close one...) :)
