Such a drama queen

I have managed to put off work for another day by not being there. Huzzah! And also, boo.

Raj had a little fit on the way to work. Just as I was about to enter the orbital M60 motorway out of Manchester he decided he had had enough of my ignoring his "my battery hurts" light, and stopped working. "BUT WHAT ABOUT ME? WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS?" he moaned, and refused to budge any further. I managed to persuade him to roll mostly off the road so as to not get us both killed and/or in trouble with the Police, and we waited for the AA (I assumed) man to (I was assured) arrive.

Mr John From The AA "umm"ed and "ah"ed. He connected Raj's battery to his own and watched it charge, then disconnected it and watched it slowly run down as Raj revved quietly to himself. He reached right inside and tweaked bits, and finally took a wrench to the Alternator, by which I mean he hammered it a few times in an effort to get it to turn over. It did this, in fits and starts, and the voltmeter wavered up and down a few times before resuming its downward plunge. John From The AA determined that there was nothing for it but to charge the battery for ten minutes and drive home on battery power alone, as a new Alternator would be required. (This is one of the few engine parts of which I had heard.) Instead of driving home I took Raj to a nearby garage, which is where he is now. Apparently he will be ready some time this afternoon. They will ring me.

I'll let you know.

See, listen to aunty Jo, she's always right. Maybe I should become a mechanic.
