In reverse order...

It's Sunday, and I'm about to go to bed when I've written this journal entry. Tomorrow is work. Blech. Just got home in time to say good night to [livejournal.com profile] bacony. Am somewhat disappointed with the amount of time I have spent with her this week - my usual excuse is that I'm on the other side of the Pennines, but this week I've been sleeping at random people's houses and we haven't intersected much. Plus she's been at work, which hasn't helped.

This afternoon I was at [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain's house, where we watched the excellent Bourne Identity and played Chez Geek some. I got there via [livejournal.com profile] arwel and [livejournal.com profile] icklejo's house, where I spent the night (before driving them to and from [livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain's). There was an amusing altercation with an inflatable bed. Basically I was slightly drunk and entirely too trusting of Jo's instructions to unstopper the stopper and blow until it was full, and failed altogether to notice that the stopper at the other end of the bed - the big, deflating stopper - was already unstopped. I assumed the faint hissing noise I heard as I gasped for breath was the air in the bed settling. I probably would have noticed eventually but I was too busy reading the Book of Exalted Deeds... Jo eventually noticed my protracted puffing (after half an hour) and came in to check on me.

As I say, I went over there on Saturday, after stopping only very briefly at home. That day I also replaced my car battery, which I assumed was at fault because despite my driving around lots was failing to charge (the battery light had been on for a week or so). The lights were dimming and the windscreen wipers were slowing down as I pulled up to the spare parts dealer. However, the battery light is still on. Suspect, after chatting with [livejournal.com profile] icklejo, that it may be the alternator. I don't know what that looks like on my car, so I think I shall have to stop at a garage, or at least Halford's. Or both (one to check the current one, and one to buy the replacement). Or ... do the AA do that sort of check? I'm sure they would if I actually broke down, but I really don't want to let it get that far...

I awoke at Nook([livejournal.com profile] ghostbritain)'s on Saturday morning. This is because I was there Friday night playing Orpheus. Much fun was had, and I got to use the Fight Music CD that I have been lovingly crafting recently. For those interested, the track listing is presented here.

Juno Reactor/Don Davis - Tetsujin
James L. Venable - Monkey On The Loose!
Apollo Four Forty - Charlies Angels 2000
Juno Reactor - Teahouse
Lunatic Calm - Leave You Far Behind
Don Davis - Woman Can Drive
The Chemical Brothers - In Dust We Trust
Propellerheads - Spybreak!
Nobuo Uematsu - Don't Be Afraid
Crystal Method - Magic Carpet Ride
Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honor or Humanity
Ash - Kung Fu
David Arnold feat. The Propellorheads - On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Fluke - Absurd (Whitewash Mix)
Rob Dougan - Furious Angel
Wildchild - Renegade Master
Rob Dougan - Chateau
Chemical Brothers - Loops of Fury
Juno Reactor vs. Don Davis - Burly Brawl

I also awoke at Nook's on Friday morning, but I did not spend the entire day there because I had run out of underpants. So I popped home to pick some up and intersected with Katy for the first time in a few days. I was at Nook's Thursday because he'd had Thursday off and we spent the day having Larks. Mostly playing board games, and Dark Forces III: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on his Gamecube. (Oh yes, and I had a couple of late nights playing that, let me tell you. Am thinking about purchasing my own Game Cube memory card so that I don't have to rely on Nook keeping my save games, which he doesn't anyway.)

Thursday I awoke at [livejournal.com profile] stsquad's house because the previous night was New Year's Eve, and he had been having a party. Stayed up till the wee hours getting drunk on merriment, and Smirnoff Ice, mostly Smirnoff Ice. (Note to our American cousins: The good stuff, not that nasty Malt Beverage thing I have heard about. Traditional style lemonade with vodka in it.) And it was good, and it was well, and everything was well.

Somewhere along the way I had a chat with [livejournal.com profile] bacony about her alcoholism concerns. Turns out that people had been taking her comments entirely out of context and, indeed, completely misinterpreting them. Apparently it was not that she wanted me to drink less but rather that she didn't want [livejournal.com profile] stsquad to try to get me drunk at the party ("and see who I would get off with"). And she never said that I can't get out of bed without an alcopop. Apparently her words were more along the lines of "He doesn't drink before noon, but then he never gets up before noon..."

Of course, that is only her side of the story, but since it is a first hand account and not filtered through Nook I shall put somewhat more stock in it.

Oh - allegedly the Maelstrom mailshot goes out today. Upon its arrival, and upon inward digestion of the rules, I shall begin to entertain offers of group membership. If you want me in your group, show me the love.
