Something that just struck me as amusing. I don't know if you've noticed the tendency for movie websites to occupy domains with ...movie at the end (presumably to leave the main domain free for a more well known iteration or an umbrella site for the franchise) - what, you haven't noticed that? It's just me? Well, shit.

Regardless, I was amused by the address for the website promoting Date Movie. It appears to be in the vein of Scary Movie^[1] or Not Another Teen Movie, right down to the logo, but may nonetheless be of interest to fans of one Alysyn Hannygyn.

The name of the movie, Date Movie, would appear at first glance to preclude the worry that, perhaps, the domain DateMovie may be later required for, perhaps, Date Movie: The Novel, Date Movie: The TV Show or Date Movie: The Tea Towel. The promoters, however, are not ones to capitulate in the face of sanity^[2], and have registered datemoviethemovie.com.

Genius!

[1] Scary Movie 3 was in fact surprisingly acceptable fare, raised above mediocre by the shameless Lesley Neilson and a random homage to a movie that was about twenty years too early for the target audience.
[2] admittedly, datemovie.com was apparently registered two years ago by some domain squatters. This does not make the chosen domain name any less amusing to me.

Dude, I know exactly the movie and exactly the reference you mean, and I agree 100%. It was so random, too. I guffawed for, like, a minute when I saw it the first time.

I have yet to find any redeeming features in the Scary/NotAnotherTeen/Date Movie mould.

I feel that this time I shall not be nice and say "oh, go on then" and make someone happy when presented with the opportunity to watch this. This time there will be Kung-fucking-Fu, and tears before bedtime.
