I'm thinking about having a "Days of Future Past" party, showing various films that were set in the "Near Future" but made the unfortunate decision to pick a specific year - a year which has now passed. 2001 and 1984 are obvious choices, Transformers: The Movie (set in 2005) is another given. Hazier are the Terminator movies (because Judgement Day apparently happened in 1997, though the movies themselves are ostensibly "present") and Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Kahn (with the Eugenics Wars again set in the 1990s, though maybe the original series ep would be better for that)...

Here's the ones that have been suggested so far, you are invited to express a preference or make suggestions.

MovieFuture Date
19841984
2001: A Space Odyssey2001
Terminator1997 (Judgement Day)
Transformers: The Movie2005
Class of 19991999
Le Dernier Combat1999
Space: 19991999
Holocaust 20002000
Death Race 20002000
Planet of the Apes1972 (launch date)
Escape from the ^^1973
Conquest of the ^^1991
Battle for the ^^2001
Timecop1994 (discovery of time travel)
Escape from New York1997
Rollerball2005
Space Seed (ST:TOS ep)1992-96 (Eugenics Wars)
Bicentennial Man2006 (opening)

I have no plan for when this party would be. Though I have considered the possibility of setting a date, waiting until it's passed and then doing something else entirely.

may also be of use, although it's not just restricted to films.

Although straining the implied conditions of "a year that we remember", and "mostly set in a future that has past", then 1936's "Things to Come" covers 100 years, most of which have passed.

Gareth has the hilarious Jean-Claude Van Damme movie 'Timecop' that begins 'In 1994, man discovered time travel'. The Future cars of the 80's are particularly funny?

John Carpenter's

Escape from New York:
The Year is 1997. Manhattan Island has now become a walled maximum security prison for the world's worst crimminals. All the bridges leading out of the prison have been rigged with mines. The Rivers have also been mined, but when Air Force One crashes somewhere in the city, a former war hero turned convict is offered freedom if he can rescue the president within 24 hours.

Thought of another, the original Rollerball, set in 2005.
