Weekend Plans

So, plans for the weekend.

Friday I will be driving home to Manchester and going to the pub. It will be the Woodstock. Sorry, arwel, much as I love you I remember the last time we went to the pub with your workmates - they stole you away from us. (I think it was you. It was definitely Kro2.) And this is your Christmas party so they'd actually have prior claim on you, or something. Woodstock is, broadly speaking, easier and more appealing.

Then on Saturday I get the train back to Ilkley, to be picked up by my old friend Paul who will drive me to Coventry to be with the people that I still consider to be my friends despite only seeing them twice a year. It's not like they're just "old school friends," this isn't Friends Reunited, these were my friends. We were the geeks who stayed after school to roleplay, and played Magic: The Gathering in our lunchbreaks (I never bought any cards, just sponged off them). And we never talk, and it's wrong. So this takes priority.

If you're wondering why I made such a point of explaining that - Big Gay Phil rang up this evening to demand I explain why I am not going to SoS this weekend. I've not been for a good few months now, what with Waypoint and weddings and oh all sorts of thing. It's all about priorities. SoS is generally quite low on my list of priorities, because it's on every month, so if anything more interesting comes along I'll happily ditch it once in a while. But now I have been neglecting SoS, so in January it takes priority. I don't want any of you to think I've abandoned you all ... still, it feels good to know I have been missed, even while I am sad that you have had to miss me.


Anyway. I assume we're staying overnight (it's supposed to start at 7 and it would be a bit late to drive home by that point) so I'll be back in Ilkley on Sunday. From there I will get the train back to Manchester - hopefully in time for icklejo's birthday pubbage. Then on Monday I drive to work and back to Bolton as per usual for D&D-related kicks. And that's the weekend.

Well they did ply me with loads of alchol last time. I just wanted to share the love, have my cake and eat it as it were. Oh well, no doubt I shall catch up with you on Sunday.

I shall forgoe my Gym session (or more correctly go at lunch time) to get there at a reasnoble time. So what time are we aiming for the Woodstock? And do they do food in the evenings as well?

Hmm ... I'll be back in Manc by about 6.30, traffic allowing, so could conceivably be at the Woodstock by half seven. I'm not sure about the bus times but there's about one an hour and it's not that long a journey.

Anyone else who feels like coming along should feel welcome, naturally...

Have checked GMPTE site. Stupid, stupid timetable only gives times up to 4.30. But they seem to pass Levenshulme at ten to the hour and take half an hour to get there, so.

Update: Using the journey planner works a lot better than looking up the timetable of an existing service, because it lets you specify a travel time. Serve me right for trying to be clever.
