Happy New

Had a good new year's party.  Trammed into Manchester at about 4pm to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] ed_fortune and do some shopping (well, return a gift that I bought for my Grandad and somebody else had got him), then trained it to Bolton and thence to [livejournal.com profile] richc and [livejournal.com profile] ajon's place for festivities.  This meant large quantities of alcomahol, which continued into the small hours before the party spontaneously collapsed.

I slept not at all that night.  At least it felt like that at the time, but retrospectively I don't believe I have enough memory to cover the entire eight hours I spent in bed.  Regardless, I was up and down to the bathroom many times, sometimes to relieve myself and sometimes to drink water on account of the dehydration.  (The latter, of course, led to more of the former.)  I find it very hard to get to sleep when I'm dehydrated, which is a good safety valve against hangovers but does lead to me lying awake a lot.  Added variously to the facts that I have a hard enough time sleeping when I'm sharing a bed/room with somebody, and that [livejournal.com profile] nattydreadai snored a lot, and that the airbed really needed a pillow, I really didn't have a very good night's sleep.

This did not put too much of a damper on the morning, though, as well all rolled out of our sleeping quarters in time for sausages and bacon and cups of tea to fall down our gullets, and then watched a large amount of the Fairly Oddparents (much to [livejournal.com profile] mrssshhh's displeasure, though he didn't mention it until about three hours in).  Then I left at about 3, trained back to Manchester and did more actual shopping (buying music and video with the HMV voucher earned the day before by returns), got home at about five.

And that's my new year.  Now I must draw some more comic...
