Woot!  Thanks to wibblefish I now have enough cable to plug directly into the router - no more cheap and crappy wireless card for me, no sir!  So I'll have a stable connection for all that MMORPG and webcam chat stuff that I ... never do.

Well, at least now I can rely on picking my emails up without having to go via the internet!

Local server. What with the email box being just upstairs and everything, I can connect direct to it. (Though that said, first thing this morning it didn't.) In fact that's the only way it'll respond to an email client - otherwise you have to use the webmail interface.

Although I don't know why you couldn't connect to it over the wireless link. You would still be on the inner network. You have selected IMAP instead of POP right?

It worked, it just wasn't reliable. Every now and then it would say "failed to connect to server jack". It did it once this morning, too, over the cable.
