How have fainting goats survived as a species? A predator jumps out at them and they collapse, how haven't they all been eaten?

Well think about it, americans have like wolves and cougars as main predators.

SO you have a bunch of goats... a cougar jumps out!
Goats go stiff!
Cougar kills and drags off a goat... other goats run like hell...

Now i know your gonna say... why doesnt one goat get it and not the rest?
Well cos eventually all those goats would die.. and wouldnt breed.
