SPECIAL SCHOOL

I'm going to start giving the comic's permalink instead of the site's main address, because I have been annoyed with other comic communities for not doing this in the past. On a related note, would there be demand for a Special School LJ community?

DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY: Iain is exaggerating here, it was a lot more measured than he suggests. And it was less of a hammer, and more of an industrial pressure-welder. Or something.

In other news: I ordered the phone and it has arrived at my Mum's house in Ilkley. I will try and pick it up some time before Maelfroth (the player pack for which also arrived today, in Manchester - Mum forwarded it on yesterday so that's quite good going). I was able to go for the silver one in the end, which means of course I immediately wished I had the black one. This is my fundamental inferiority complex at work: nothing can be any good if I own it. I will endeavour to be happy with it.

I happened across your journal by chance. If I'm intruding on your privacy, just ignore me. I don't mean any harm. :)

I was curious; your profile page said you like to "live-action roleplay." I've not heard that term before really. Is that with paper and dice, or online, or something else completely that involves costumes and swords and so forth?

The last one - we all get dressed up and have fun in a field (or sometimes in a pub or a rented building). There's a variety of methods, ranging from stuff that is basically tabletop with costumes right the way down to totally free-form make-it-up-as-you-go type system; the majority of clubs lie somewhere in the middle, with a simple but firm set of rules about what any given character can and cannot do. Most games do away with dice, instead using actual combat with foam-padded swords etc.

It is possibly the most fun you can have with somebody else's clothes on.

Wow, neat! I had no idea people did stuff like that anyplace else other than Renaissance Festivals. It sounds like a lot of fun. I always love it when people are cool with just using their imaginations and having a good time.

I think if I ever did something like that I'd be inclined to dress up like an elf. I have no idea why. :)
