It requires downloading, but being able to zoom around in 3D just adds a little something extra to the experience (try going to New York and turning on the 3D buildings!)
Heh, I like the FAQ. "Are Google Earth images captured in real time?" ... It would be nice to have a global satellite system constantly monitoring the Earth's surface so any geek with a net connection could spy on their friends, but really.
