Saturday involved a few episodes of Firefly and then a trip to Knutsford for a party. Mufi and TJ's house is so very very nice, as is their Plasma Screen TV (though we have not seen it in action). We both hate and love them for their vast wealth.
I stayed sober, and left soon after midnight. I was briefly taken aside by Mrs Sue Hill who apologised for being at all mean in the past, assured me it was nothing personal, and said she thought I was a really nice guy. It was quite surprising; if I don't get invited to something I don't get offended, I just assume I don't feature highly on that person's social radar and feel a bit left out[1]. I never once got the impression Sue disliked me, just that she didn't know me very well. It turns out she thinks I'm great and wants to see more of me.
She may have been quite drunk, in fact towards the end she did veer rather off subject towards where I should find sombody and why didn't I have somebody and there must be a nice boy out there for me. And she got a bit weepy. But that's beside the point.
Sunday was then filled with the remainder of Firefly, which reminded me what a cracking series it was (as if I had forgotten). It remains shocking that stuff of this caliber gets cancelled. I blame the promotion; I didn't bother with it myself when it was on TV because it was marketed as just cowboys in space and I didn't see the point. (Not that it was ever shown on TV in the UK particularly prominently. What with already being cancelled and all.) Cowboy fans will have objected to the SF aspects, SF fans will have rolled their eyes at the cowboy hats. And people who tuned it because it was "FROM THE CREATOR OF BUFFY" will have been disappointed there were no vampires.
Watched it with
stsquad,
zheers,
markthebrewer and on and off
wibblefish and
tractorb. Mark initially didn't think much of it but over the course of the series was converted. People were laughing uproariously, but that may have been due to the legally-obtained psychotropic fungus they were enjoying.
Then I went to bed. Must remember: I am going to
icklejo's house on Wednesday night in order to wait for a delivery all Thursday. Skirting boards! Fun!
Unless it's somebody I clearly do know well, then I get all sulky and irrational.
