The flat backgrounds are partially laziness, but also me keeping an eye on doing this as a regular thing and trying to make it as painless as possible. Currently I'm looking into ways to streamline the lettering process. It's a pain, I do the bubbles in Illustrator but keep the finished file in Photoshop, which means I either have to rasterise the text or retype it all. I'd rather have PS text objects than flat images but retyping all the dialogue is annoying...
Hypothermia kilt the dawg. There was initially a caption to this effect, but it felt clumsy so I took it out. There was also going to be some dialog about Iain wearing a T-shirt in midwinter (or "midinter", which I will have to fix). But look, everyone else is wearing scarves!
