Went to Viking!.  It was groovy.  I think everybody had fun, and plenty of people said they were already looking forward to the next.  I think this even included the organisers.  Less fun was staying until after dark cleaning up the site, but that's part and parcel of the whole "crewing" thing.

I am saying less and less on this thing, aren't I?  Must become more opinionated and less worried about offending people.

Because that worked so well last time.

Apparently the ColdFusion code snippet I wrote last week (What? I didn't mention it? Oh, well, a company was demanding samples of my ColdFusion code and I didn't have any, so the agency arranged for them to set me a short task. It took about an hour and a half, including dithering over the ambiguous wording and extensive internet research.) went down well.  Interview tomorrow!

Update: It seems the interview process may include some form of official certification - they only want to hire a certified developer, and are willing to shell out for it themselves. Assuming, of course, I make it past the initial interview tomorrow. Even so, they must have been reasonably impressed with the coding I sent over ... I just hope I'm as good without the internet to teach me!

The two-and-a-half-weeks worth of facial hair I grew in for Viking! has been removed!  Naturally, being a man, it came off in clumps so I could see what it looks like, because you have to.  Dave Gorman agrees.  Also, naturally, being both a geek and without shame, I took pictures of each stage on my camera phone.  These ill-lit and often unfocussed pictures can be seen here.

WARNING: CONTAINS PICTURES OF ILL-ADVISED FACE-FOLIAGE.  Not for the faint of heart!
