Search for car continues. Am looking at a Honda something. Hope it is still there tonight. Must remember to get money out of bank. NOW.
I have thought about trying not to talk about people who have/read livejournals, so as not to offend anybody. Then the thought occured that talking about somebody behind their back is worse than doing it somewhere that they can read it. Oh well.
Reviews! I have seen many things recently. I think I mentioned Flight of the Navigator, but I didn't say what I thought of Finding Nemo. Bloody good. Pretty and funny and clever and charming and so beautiful. I was disappointed that there were no out-takes at the end (as is by now traditional for Pixar movies), but it's still worth watching beyond the credits. Things happen all the way through, including a cameo from an earlier movie and the resolution of the tank fish plot.
batelf kept saying all the way though that he refused to believe some of it was CGI. But he clearly does - we had a discussion about whether they'd bother to model Sydney for the few long-distance shots and he opined that Pixar would see it as a matter of professional pride. I think he meant it in the sense of "OMG OMG THAT'S SO FVCKING GOOD".
Also, the latest Benny book has arrived thanks to my standing order. I am halfway through, but I have flipped to the later pages just to see. I thought it wouldn't matter, since it's a collection of short stories, but it turns out to be very chronological. Almost like a round-robin novel, although most of the "chapters" are standalone and self-contained. I didn't read too closely (just caught a few character names), so I haven't spoiled everything, but there's a couple of shocks that I have definitely ruined. Oh well. Thus far it is very well written, all the characters are reasonably consistent, and many of the stories reference earlier events or set up for later ones. Very nicely interwoven. I am marginally annoyed, though, that there is no mention of some of the characters from earlier books (like the survivor from the 20th century who was very firmly installed at the Braxiatel Collection since he was of immense historical interest and had nowhere else to go). Still, that particular one's about two years old, so I suppose they could be forgiven for not remembering.
pkgem shared a delightful story with us about the antics of her He-Man figure. I have been trying to find a clever way of asking about the relative dimensions of his mount, but nothing has come up so far.
Supplemental: Today I made ham sandwiches and I was forced to use Mum's Low-Fat Mayonnaise. I am forced to agree with Fat Alternate Universe Monica from "The One That Could Have Been".
Joey: I mean, y'know how Monica feels about low fat mayonnaise?
Monica: It's not mayonnaise!!
