Annoyingly, my Body Mass Index is 23 or 24 - the perfect weight for my height. If only it wasn't all concentrated around the midriff.
So I'm going to try and lose a little weight. Health sites tell me that just doing a bunch of sit-ups will not help (it'll firm the muscles underneath without actually destroying the gut), which is a relief, since I am lazy. They also say simply eating less is a bad plan as it would slow the metabolism, making you lethargic and stopping you from processing food properly at all, thus turning you into a skinny person who still has a belly. The best advice seems to be to cut down on specifically fatty foods like mayonnaise and butter (probably peanut butter also - hello ham sandwiches), eat more vegetables, and do more exercise (possibly a run, or even a walk, around the estate at lunchtime). I will try this, since it actually involves very little effort. Well, the food thing anyway - it's as easy to buy lettuce as it is to buy a packet of pringles, if you're in the supermarket anyway. I will have to make an effort to stop buying McBurgers, though, and the exercise will be a big hurdle.
If only I worked somewhere that I could use public transport for, I'd be getting walking exercise... must find new job.
Re: weakness
Date: 2003-11-04 08:14 am (UTC)I have spent such an ammount on a gym membership and in both cases I stopped going after the initial "new hobby" month. We currently have a "suspended" membership at David Lloyd in Bolton because it was cheaper to suspend it on grounds of Paul's back than give 3 months notice to leave (due to the fact that we hardly ever went...)
I'm crap. David Lloyd has a jacuzzi you know. Now, that's a distraction.
And stop putting images of you naked into my mind!! (aaargh). No matter how good you may look. Well,
