Heeeee hee hee hee.  Best crossover idea EVAR.  Must ring the comic shop about this month's order...

ETA: On a related note, I am filled with confidence for Green Lantern's future. Geoff Johns, my favourite writer of the minute, is taking the ball and running with it. The video interview is most illuminating (if you're interested in comic book writers talking about how they write comic books) - the guy just lives and breathes comic books. I want to be him.

And so to the weekend.  I have given in to OMG WTF and told the local garage that, yes, I am willing to pay for a new part from Honda, please to be extracting my pound of flesh now thank you.  He's going to price it up and get back to me, should be able to do it on Monday.  I'm going to try to keep night-time driving to a minimum until then so my plans for the weekend are thusly.

Thursday night drinking in Notlob is, I'm afraid, not going to happen.  I could probably force the lights to work but TBH I'm none too keen on it.  Much though I love you all.  Friday night I'll stay in Ilkley too.  I was thinking about it anyway, since my sister's up from London.  Then I'll drive over to Manchester on Saturday morning - in the daylight - play maybe some Neverwinter Nights or Enter the Matrix or something and stay there for Saturday night.  (Maybe I'll read the new World of Darkness core rulebook some more and think about a Matrix adaptation ... and bat around some ideas for potential plots.  Somebody pointed out that given the dangerous nature of the Matrix, why do people go in there at all?  The only real indications we have of day-to-day Matrix use are the game and the very start of the first movie.  Outside the actual plot-significant events of the movies, in the game it seems to be used primarily as a communication medium, which sort of makes sense - as a planetwide computer network it's capable of communicating with other ships that may be out of reach of your ship's transmitter.  Log in, pick up a phone, drop a parcel in the post, or even meet in person.  Piece of pie.  Most of the levels are the result of this highly hazardous communications system going awry.  There are, I figure, only two other reasons for going in there - to Free A Mind or deal with one of those sentient programs.  The former is, I figure, quite an involved process, involving a few days of feeling them out, making contact, before luring them to an abandoned hotel, offering them the Choice and plugging them into the extraction gear.  The latter could be anything from a chat with the Oracle to a full-on assault on the Merovingian's chateau.  Presumably to rescue another Zionist who got caught making a phone call, or something.  I think I'd be setting the game before the movies, since I can't be bothered thinking up the ramifications of the deal they struck at the end.)

But anyway.

Sunday afternoon I'm planning to go to see The Incredibles at Bolton UGC (Because [livejournal.com profile] pkgem and [livejournal.com profile] stsquad are the only people who've expressed an interest/preference).  Probably the 2:45 showing to avoid driving home in the dark, or even the 1:40 just to be on the safe side.  Unless Alex wants to volunteer the services of his perfectly servicable vehicle, which would make a certain amount of sense.

Then I drive to work on Monday stopping only to drop my car off at the garage I hope.  He still has not called back with a price.  It is nervy.  I will let you know.
