Have just arranged to have a man fit a new windscreen to Raj tomorrow morning.  Made two major mistakes:
  1. Allowed first place I rang to make an appointment.
  2. Admitted that I had not had any other quotes.
I fully intended to get a quote and ring around, but it was much less that I expected (£140 ex VAT) so I just let it through.  This is probably extortionate in fact.  Oh well, I will have a nice new windscreen out of it.  And it's not as though I can't comfortably afford it right now.

Berate me for my foolishness!  Impulse-buying a windscreen, I don't know.

If your wind-screen has a chip or something that could become dangerous and could have been caused accidentally (a stone flying up from the motorway and chipping your screen for example), you can claim it on your insurance without it affecting your no claims and you'd only have to pay the excess - in most cases £50ish.
If your windscreen is not likely to crack any moment and poses no threat to your continued existence, I then ask why buy a new windscreen?
