Vroom! Vrooom!
Oct. 16th, 2003 09:32 amNew car!
I say new. It's actually the oldest yet. F-reg Honda Accord from 1988. But for the last seven years it's been owned by a nice man in Bradford who drove it from his house to his office five minutes away; according to the MOTs it's only gained about 8000 miles in the last three years. He said he's never had any problems with it whatsoever. 10 months MOT, 5 months tax. Slightly cheaper insurance. 500 quids. Probably overcharged, but if it keeps going for the full 10 months then I'll be more than happy. The advert said "beige" but it's a sort of metallic beige, almost gold really. It looks very dated, which is good, because it is less likely to be stolen and I don't care about what my car looks like as long as it gets me from A to B.
The radio doesn't really work, none of the buttons respond and it's tuned to local Bradford asian radio. But it plays tapes, which I have plenty of. I think I might call it Raj, on account of that's the last three letters of the number plate.
Never named the Ford. Maybe that's why it broke.
Oh, yes - I bought The Darkness and Busted earlier this week. Busted has gone on the reverse side of the Good Charlotte tape, heh. Where System Of A Down used to be (ps anyone want to buy a SoaD CD?). The Darkness is going to go on the flipside of Tenacious D (surplanting the Digimon movie soundtrack), then I shall create a new tape containing Digimon and Junior Senior (the latter of which currently has no home, and both of which
bacony hates). See, I am shuffling my music around so that similar things are on the reverse of each other. Previously I have gone for contrasts, but I have found this does not work because when I say to myself "Hm, today I would like to listen to HARD ROCK KICK-ASS GUITARS" and pick up the Tenacious D tape it is inevitably at the start of the Digimon side.
One day I will buy an MP3 CD player and all this will be for naught. I long for this day.

must break the obsessive compulsive cycle
Date: 2003-10-16 02:12 am (UTC)I have a 6-CD-autochanger in my leetil tenk. Despite the choice that this offers I cannot stop listening to the White Stripes. Occassionally I've listed to REM or Zwan or a few other CDs but ineviatably I end up listening to at least one White Stripes track (usually a whole CD) a day. I even swapped the CDs in my aut-changer recently adding albums by Live, Grant Lee Buffalo and Pink Floyd). But I couldn't remove the White Stripes album - it was like I was in that Idle Hands movie - they wouldn't let me. This morning I started by listening to REM's Reveal but by the time I was entering the car park The White Stripes were playing. It's getting freaky man...
