I am being assigned to an "open expo" thing in Nottingham or Norwich or some N place the Monday after next - the Monday immediately following Maelstrom.  Apparently the MD likes to travel down the night before and sleep over, which means I may be picked up by him immediately after returning from M.  That'll be fun...

My main duties will involve demonstrating parts of the system to all and sundry, and looking pretty.  I'm reasonably sure I can manage at least one of those.

By the by, i hate this journal look you've got here.

Actually I was thinking about setting it back to "use old comments pages" as I used to - you have to intentionally reimplement it when you switch styles - because it does annoy me when my journal management links aren't there. But now that I've been told, I think I'll leave it for a bit...

I am software developer, currently working on a web-based system for tracking equipment that is on loan from a central store.

Our current woes revolve around there being no central database of GPs in this country...

It might actually be worth us talking about this at some point. I'm implementing the front end of an i-procurement system and I suspect they won't be a world different...

As a matter of fact, the loanstore is quite closely modelled on the Procurement system being developed by another team here. It's gone through a lot of changes - such as, we're less concerned about invoicing since it's all off internal budgets, and we have to keep track of where products go in order to get them back - but it's still basically about moving objects around.

Excellent. Should work on most browsers that conform to the W3C object model, I've tested it on IE and Firefox (IE is annoyingly lax in its reference constraints - it happily takes "opener.txttext" where FF insists, more correctly, on "opener.document.form1.txttext").

Took about five minutes programming time, I think at Consultancy rates that equates to about 1 Smirnoff Ice or perhaps a brightly-coloured Reef...
