A couple of weeks ago I went into the Skipton Art Shop to see if they had any proper-type cartooning materials.  The nice lady said they were planning to get some "Manga" art tools - "Like the proper cartoonists use" - and could ring me when they came.  So she rang me yesterday and I went in to see.

Yes, it was a pack of "Manga" pens, labelled as such in bright primary colours and a cartoony font.  I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting - maybe something involving India ink - but the felt-tip pens were something of a surprise.

In her defence the more expensive pack did contain "marker paper" (pens will not spread) and actual screentone (stuff that gives that newspaper-print style pointllised shading) which I was vaguely interested in because I've no idea how it works (is it like a transfer, or what?).  But it was not worth buying the rest of it just to find out.

So I splashed out on three different-sized fibre-tips / brush pens - which do hold India Ink, thank you very much - and a big A3 pad of "drawing paper" (just to, you know, see).  I am pleased with my purchases.  May even try drawing with them at some point!

That is all, I have nothing of interest to say.
