I have just presented this to the Bahadhu mailing list (in response to a query about the sequence of events), and I'm quite entertained by it.  So I thought I'd repost it here.  Is to enjoy.

EDITED TO ADD: For clarification - the question was "Why was the Hitoshi not allowed to commit seppuku?" Also, does not actually have anything to do with Reboot.

1. EXT - KITCHEN TENT

KANJIRO: Kneel so I can kill you!

HITOSHI: I demand that the Daimyo come here and execute me himself.

PLEASANT AUTUMN WIND: *rushes off*

HITOSHI: - Or allows me to commit seppuku.

KANJIRO: Very well.  Please to wait in the shrine.

2. INT - ANAGUMA MEETING TENT

PLEASANT AUTUMN WIND enters.

PLEASANT AUTUMN WIND: Tanaka-dono! Hitoshi-san demand execution by your hand!

TANAKA: Does he, eh?  Does he really?  I'll show HIM execution so I will. Give me your pointies.

POINTY-BEARER: *gives*

TANAKA: *charges*

3. INT - ANAGUME SHRINE

HITOSHI: Nice in here, innit?

KANJIRO: Sho nuff.  Want a pointy?

HITOSHI: Yeah, seppuku is easier with a pointy.  Give me a pointy.

TANAKA: *enters* *gives pointy* *continues giving pointy*

HITOSHI: *dies*

KANJIRO: Oh, very funny.

Dang your misleading!

I read "Mainframe Strolling Players" and though "Reboot stuff - cool!" But no. Stinky, makes-no-sense-to-me Maelstrom stuff. Bah! I'm disappointed. Cheer me up!

Pointy-Bearer is Anaguma Togamora (Martin, anyway) and that's almost exactly how I remember it happening. Mmmmmarvellous.

I'm hoping someone will explain who is at war with whom, and why, to me at some point...

andy@andysdrawings.co.uk is bouncing all my messages. Some of the dryads have tried to mail you as well, and can't get through.

No just crap. Certainly the logs show mail arriving for you andydrawings address. Are you sure there spelling the address right. I can check the bounce messages if you send them to me.

Of course the rsync of my 40 Gb music directory between my work box and my home box may be slowing things down a little.....

When did you send the message? What response did you get?

Yesterday and today. Bog standard delivery failure response. I've deleted the mail - I'll try again so I can forward you the exact text.

Please, with full headers if you could.

I've been updating the tags of my collection with EasyTAG. Unfortunatly that means the whole file needs to be transfered again. I did most of my compilation albums last night (fixing the Various Artists in the Artist field for around 400 songs) and started the resync when I left work last night. It was still running this morning.

The size of the home partition? Currenty about 9.6G free between all users of jack. At some point I'll be off-loading all the music stuff onto a dedicated file-server so I'll be able to expand the /home partition.

Mmm, probably. Something with tiger-tree hases would probably do a good job. I'll have a look.

So, when I tried proper messages (yesterday and this morning), it failed. When I write "test" it works perfectly. Will forward you the info if it happens again, but for now it all seems to be working.

Personally I blame Microsoft, after most people assume its their fault ;-)

It could of been that the secondry MX for andydrawings.co.uk wasn't actually set to handle its mail so may of been bouncing mail. Normally this matters not as all mail should go to the primary MX. However the rsync prcoess may of eaten enough bandwidth that things gave up and went to the secondry MX - in fact looking at the logs I can see Katie's rejected mail and one from a "gloam".

Do you want the emails of all the reject's sent to you?

Who actually maintains the DNS records for andydrawings? Is it you?

Dropping an email to web-users@bennee.com helps of course as I generally don't run support requests via LJ ;-)

Ah, I suspect he just cloned the bennee.com MX records assuming I would of updated smtp2.bennee.com to relay your mail as well. As I've noted on my latest posting this will need fixing at some point as the secondry MX will soon die.
